San Beda will continue its winning streak and for a solo top spot (6-0) as they will callenge their fiercest rival in the NCAA-Letran Knights.

The Red Lions, who just came from an almost upset game versus CSB and an ovrewhelming win against EAC will go head-to-head with Letran in terms of defense being the Knights as the #1 defensive team in the league.

Fans expect a close fight between the two as Letran really showed a lot of improvement unlike last season who just placed #5 in the standings and missed it's Final 4 campaign.

The undefeated champions are still in their dominating form as they possess an average of 88.6% in terms of scoring. San Beda is the #1 scoring team this season. San Beda is also on its 10-game winning streak against Letran since 2007.

The red and white team will still rely on Dave Marcelo, Kyle Pascual and Jake Pascual in terms of solid defense and with Garvo Lanete, Rome Dela Rosa in terms of scoring.

Will the mendiola-based squad grab its solo lead or can the Knights stop the Red Lions' winning streak to share the #2 spot?

Don't miss the match of the NCAA's biggest rivalry on Monday, August 1, 2011. Game starts at 4pm at The Arena and Live on Studio 23.
King Red Lion Garvo Lanete showed Friday that he is determined to end his collegiate career with another championship tucked under his belt.

The veteran San Beda playmaker, the league's fifth best scorer this season with a 17.4 per game average, proved that he remains one of the dependable players for the the defending champion Red Lions in the 87th NCAA men's basketball tournament.

His blazing performance earned Lanete, who also showed his defensive skill by pulling off four steals, the ACCEL-3XVI NCAA Press Corps Player of the Week.

"This is my final year in the NCAA and I really want to help this team in whatever way I can. We were also focused on bouncing back strong after out game with St. Benilde and maybe that also contributed to my performance," said Lanete who hails from Cebu.

This time around, San Beda College made sure the game will not be decided at the last minute.

The Red Lions returned to their usual dominating selves, as they showed no mercy against Emilio Aguinaldo College, 103-62, to gain a piece of the lead in the 87th National Collegiate Athletic Association basketball tournament at the Flying V Arena in San Juan yesterday.

Garvo Lanete sizzled with a career-high 32 points, 13 in the second period, to power San Beda to its fifth straight victory in as many games in a tie with San Sebastian at the top on similar 5-0 cards.

After barely surviving College of St. Benilde in their previous encounter, 79-78, the Red Lions came out of the gates and raced to a 17-point lead, 52-35, at the break. They never looked back from there in cruising to the win.

Through Lanete and its unforgiving full-court trap and precise transition game, San Beda relentlessly attacked the Generals at every possession.

A few weeks of both NCAA 87 and UAAP 74 basketball have gone by, and there are so many points of discussion. There are things that are clear as day (Ateneo’s dominance), and some not so clear (Is San Beda as dominant?). Surprises? Perhaps a few. But in the exciting world of college basketball, surprises are a staple as the season rolls on. Oh, and not only college basketball has been going on in recent weeks. We’ll talk a little about that too.

Is San Beda as Dominant? We are not comparing San Beda to Ateneo, mind you. We are comparing this year’s team to San Beda teams of the past few years. Yes, the Red Lions have not lost to this point, and they have won via a blow-out in three of four games. But, is there something missing? Of course the obvious answer is, yes. Sudan is not manning the middle and they do not seem anywhere near as intimidating. Pascual and Lanete are stepping up, but only time will tell if the absence of the big man in the middle is the key. The NCAA playing field is much more level this year, and it seems anyone can beat the other on a good day. Is it time to roar once more?

Defending champion San Beda seeks to rejoin San Sebastian atop the leaderboard when it battles Emilio Aguinaldo College Friday in the 87th NCAA basketball tournament at The Arena in San Juan.

The Red Lions are seeking to rebound from a horrible performance against College of Saint Benilde exactly a week ago although they escaped with a 79-78 victory.

Gametime is set at 2 p.m. before Perpetual Help and CSB duel in the other game at 4 p.m.
The scary win obviously disappoint coach Frankie Lim, who hopes to see his team put up a more feisty showing against the Generals.

“We almost got burned,” said Lim, whose squad has been saddled with the loss of MVP Sudan Daniel to an ACL injury. “I’m not happy with the way we played against St Benilde but hopefully we can do better this time.”

The running craze has finally caught up with San Beda College with the successful staging of the Bedan Animo Run last July 10 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines grounds. As part of the ongoing commemoration of the 110th year of the school, thousands of students, faculty, alumni and guests braved the chilling downpour in a show of unity for a worthy cause.

Races were held over ten, five and three kilometers plus a special 500-meter event for children to raise funds for the San Beda College of Law Legal Aid Bureau, scholars of the San Beda Institutional Community Involvement Center, SBC Benedictine Educational Fund and the varsity Athletics team.

Initially scheduled for a 6:00 AM gun start, the race started more than an hour late after dawn showers prevented the organizers from setting up, including the very crucial timing apparatus. On the eve of the run, the possibility of a cancellation beckoned due to the non-stop rains but apparently only a typhoon would stop things!

The route was very simple, easy and basically flat beginning right beside the CCP Little Theater then to Roxas Boulevard towards Rizal Park with different u-turn slots for the various distances and finally back to the Little Theater. 10K runners had to do an extra loop.

The San Beda Swatch was softly launched last July 22, 2011, the day Fr. Aloysius Maranan, OSB marked his first year as Rector-President of San Beda Manila.

The watch will be available by October, but Bedans can already reserve their watches at the Alumni offices of both Manila and Alabang, with a down payment of P2,000.

The watch costs P3,500 and part of the proceeds will be used for the many projects of the San Beda schools. Luis San Juan

Basketball hot shot San Beda Red Lion Anjo Caram is set to defend the championship crown.

The Red Lion roars

Antonio Jose "Anjo" Caram never expected to enter collegiate basketball because of his height.

But he slowly gained confidence as a point guard for the San Beda Red Lions in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). With his quickness and ball handling skills, coupled with hard work, the 5’7’’ Anjo has definitely made his mark in the Red Lion's den.

The Iloilo native was discovered by former PBA player Bong Ravena. The scouting staff of San Beda went all the way to Saint Joseph School in Iloilo City to see how he plays.

“I really want to play for a school here in Manila. It has been my dream since I was a kid. My mother and father were former varsity players at their schools in Iloilo so it’s probably in the genes. I started playing around seven years old until I became part of the varsity team when I was in grade 4,” Anjo relates.

After every team practice, Anjo makes sure to spend extra minutes on the court to practice some more on his own, shooting from different angles. Outside of basketball, he mostly spends his time hanging out with his teammates and focusing on his studies.

The Marketing and Corporate Communications senior hopes to contribute to the San Beda dynasty not only a winning basketball career but a promising business career as well.

What can you say about the rising popularity of football in the country? I’m not really a big fan of football. But it’s nice that football has become more popular because of the Azkals.

In playing basketball, which is more important, the physical built or basketball skills? There’s really an advantage if you are tall because basketball is really about the height. Pero kung maliit ka, you still have an advantage in terms of speed. You can move faster and quicker. Pero wala naman talaga sa height ‘yan. What’s important are your guts and passion for the sport.

What goes through your mind during games? I just keep my focus on our game plan. Here in San Beda, it’s all about winning. I just focus so I can do my part in winning the game for our team. As a rookie, I would get distracted by the audience. I also got a little conscious about my game because NCAA is televised. Pero nung nagtagal, nasanay na rin.

Do you have any rituals before a game? I pray that no one gets injured and that we win.

Is there a player from your fiercest rival that you admire? Our fiercest competition is San Sebastian. There are good players in their team but I can’t think of one player that really stands out. I consider us more as equals.

San Beda scrambled at endgame to escape with a 79-78 victory over St. Benilde and gain a share of the lead with San Sebastian in the NCAA men’s basketball tournament at The Arena in San Juan yesterday.

Rookie Baser Amer scored all his 11 points in the final quarter but muffed two pressure-packed charities in the last eight seconds with the Lions barely hanging on to a one-point lead.

The Blazers had a chance to snatch victory as Carlo Lastimosa took Amer’s miss and dribbled coast to coast but his floater bounced off the rim as time expired.

“We played with fire and we nearly got burned, it was a scary win and I’m really disappointed,” said San Beda coach Frankie Lim.

The Lions came into the game with a winning average of 25 points but ran into a surprisingly tough Blazers’ side all game.

Kyle Pascual and Garvo Lanete fired 16 and 12 points, respectively, for the Lions, who notched their fourth win in a row in a tie with the Stags.

San Beda hopes to keep its opponent guessing when it goes for a piece of the lead again in the NCAA men’s basketball tournament today.

The Red Lions, aiming to catch solo leader San Sebastian, tackle St. Benilde in a match that San Beda coach Frankie Lim described as the start of a tough stretch.

Gametime is at 4 p.m. at the FilOil-Flying V Arena in San Juan.

“We’ll come up with something different,” said Lim. “My guess is they’re (Blazers) going to zone us. We’ll give them different looks.”

San Beda has actually won its last 21 NCAA games, including last year’s 18-0 perfect season.
Jose Rizal University, tied with the Blazers at 1-2, shoot for a second straight victory against the struggling Mapua in the first game at 2 p.m.
Two-time NCAA Juniors Champs San Beda and La Salle Green Hills have opted to put country over cage glory by releasing their key players to form the core of the Energen Pilipinas Under-16 Youth team set to compete overseas next month.

Arvin Tolentino and Ranbill Tongco lead the five players given up by the Red Cubs and the Junior Blazers also allowed Gelo Vito to join the national team vying in the Southeast Asian Basketball Association (Seaba) Youth Championship from Aug. 9 to 13 in Banting City, Selangor, Malaysia.

“It’s heartwarming to know that there are schools willing to put the country’s interests ahead of their own,” said national youth coach Olsen Racela. “We’re hopeful that the other schools will follow suit so we can finalize the Energen roster.”

The Red Cubs and the Junior Blazers remain unbeaten in three games in the ongoing NCAA juniors basketball tournament.

University of Batangas debuts when Season 13 of the National Collegiate Athletic Association-South (NCAA-South) unfolds on Aug. 19 at San Beda College Alabang in Muntinlupa City.

Dom Clement Roque, rector president of host San Beda Alabang and Policy Board chair, said the entry of the Brahmans further raised the competitiveness of the league.

University of Perpetual Help-Laguna will shoot for a second straight title in the men’s basketball tournament where First Asia Institute of Technology and Humanities (Faith)-Tanuan, Don Bosco-Mandaluyong and host San Beda are also tabbed as contenders.

Former national coach Joe Lipa will serve as commissioner.

Back-to-back title-seeking San Beda bucked a slow, faulty start with a smashing finish as it steamrolled a helpless Arellano U, 92-67, to join San Sebastian and Letran atop the heap in the 87th NCAA basketball tournament at The Arena in San Juan City.

All the Red Lions needed was to break out of a first quarter stupor by unleashing runs anchored on playing a full-court trapping defense to nail their third straight victory for a share of the lead.

“We’re a bit scrappy in the first quarter but our full-court defense was very valuable,” said San Beda coach Frankie Lim.

Garvo Lanete led all scorers with 17 points, Anjo Caram came off the bench to pour in 15 points, including 11 in the third quarter when the Lions made a big charge Kyle and Jake Pascual chipped in 13 and 11 points, respectively.

Lucky are those who are born to be leaders. Some of them unconsciously help and reach out to people. In the field of College Basketball today, Garvo Lanete is one of them.

Never back down. Never Give Up.

These are the phrases that Garvo instilled in the minds of his teammates even before he was named as Team Captain on his final year. As early as his first season, he shared that, he was already observing his team captain Yousif Aljamal that time. At the back of his mind, he too, one day will be in that spot. That alone proved that he is eminently the best choice for the role due to his wit and drive to lead despite not being the only graduating player from his team after this season.

On how his team will or could fare this season, he said, "Mahirap this season pero we have to move forward kahit wala yung defensive threat namin na si Sudan(who is out for the season due to an ACL injury). Despite of that, madami pa din kaming bigs na pwede magstep up. We have Dave Marcelo, Kyle and Jake Pascual and even the Semerads. I'm positive they can provide quality minutes to inch the gap in our lineup."

Every team's goal is to reach the Finals and if lucky enough, win a championship as well. The Red Lions are already tried and tested when it comes to experience. But luckily for this team, "Lahat kami isa lang ang nasa isip. We're always on the same page. Sabi nga ni Coach Frankie, walang ibang goal kung hindi ang championship but of course, we'll take it one game at a time."

Defending champion San Beda College eyes a third straight win and a piece of the lead when it tackles Arellano University in the main dish of another doubleheader today in the 87th National Collegiate Athletic Association basketball tournament at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

A win by the Red Lions will shove them into a three-way logjam for the lead with the Letran Knights and the San Sebastian College Stags, who both sport spotless 3-0 cards.

The Red Lions and the Chiefs tangle at 4 p.m. (with live coverage over Studio 23)

The Red Lions so far have beaten two lightweights in Univesity of Perpetual Help Systemn Dalta Altas, 85-52, and guest squad Lyceum of the Philippines Pirates, 89-69, but faces perhaps a bolder challenge from the Chiefs.

Jake Pascual and Dave Marcelo are again expected to patrol the middle in the absence of injured American Sudan Daniel, while Rome Dela Rosa, who have been averaging 15 points a game, will be relied to score heavily from the outside.

Defending champion San Beda College restored order in the 87th NCAA seniors basketball tournament yesterday by dumping upstart Lyceum University 89-69 at the Arena in San Juan.

Banking on their vaunted pressure defense, the Red Lions opened a 42-25 halftime lead and never looked back to post their third straight win and gain a share of the lead with San Sebastian, which clobbered winless University of Perpetual (0-4) Help 87-60 in the other seniors match.

"They (Lyceum) were zoning us all the way but I believe that it was our pressure defense that eventually spelled the difference," said San Beda coach Frankie Lim of the ploy that forced the Pirates into 28 turnovers, 12 more than his squad.

While admitting they fell to a superior team, Lyceum coach Bonnie Tan was upset his charges boys failed to stick to their game plan. The Pirates, playing as a guest team, absorbed their first defeat in two outings.

"Maraming gustong mag-individual contest," said Tan, although he refused to single out any player. "Had we stuck to our strategy I believed we could have kept it close.

"But let’s face it, San Beda was, indeed, better than us. We got outboxed and outrebounded and gave them too many follow-ups," added Tan, noting the taller Red Lions clobbered them off the boards 43-20, including 16-6 on the offensive end.

Three-peat seeking San Beda was expected to dismantle Lyceum in its 87th NCAA juniors basketball debut.

But winning by 135 points was still a surprise.

The Red Cubs terrorized the Junior Pirates by holding them scoreless in the first quarter, which ended at 44-0, then continued to pound on the hapless guest team for a whopping 163-28 rout at The Arena in San Juan.

Eight players scored in double figures for the squad of coach Brit Reroma, as the Taytay, Rizal-based cagers became the first team since 2009 to win by at least 100 points.

It was also the 2008 edition of San Beda that pulled off the trick, when the squad led by former high school stars Dan Sara, Art dela Cruz, Ralph Nayve and current Red Lions rookie Baser Amer demolished the Angeles University Foundation juniors team, 168-24, on August 31, 2009.

Guest team Lyceum of the Philippines coach Bonnie Tan yesterday admitted the Pirates, who have a 2-0 mark and a share of the lead with two other squads, will be the underdog when they clash with defending champion San Beda College at 4 p.m. today in the resumption of the 87th NCAA men’s basketball tournament at The Arena in San Juan.

"Hindi na natin ka-level ito (Red Lions). We just got lucky dahil medyo magaan ‘yung schedule ng first two games namin. Pero laban lang. We’ll try to give them a good fight," said Tan.

The Pirates whipped College of St. Benilde 75-63 and University of Perpetual Help 93-87 in their past two games to share the lead with San Sebastian and Letran.

The Pirates have three good men in Chris Cayabyab (18.5 points per game), Allan Santos (15 points, 11 rebounds) and Floricel Guevarra (13.5 pts, 5.5 boards) who can light up the scoreboard but are up against an array of talented big players from San Beda.

The Red Lions, who opened their campaign with an 82-52 rout of the Altas, will once again lean on big man Jake Pascual (12 points, 13 rebounds) and the high-scoring Dave Marcelo (10 points, 15 rebounds), with cat-quick Amer Baser directing traffic against Lyceum’s weaker guard rotation.

A win by the Lions will give them a 2-0 mark.

A 1,500 year old school symbol gets a 21st-century look

School shirts are a dime a dozen, since school spirit will never be out of fashion. But with so many out there, more than one school can claim certain elements and proclaim them as their own. For instance, who really has the right to claim Animo?

But there’s one thing which no other school can claim, and we can proudly say it’s 100 percent Bedan—or should we say Benedictine, as it has existed for more than a millennia: the medal of St. Benedict.

July marks the feast month of St. Benedict, in which the medal was derived from.

The medal is considered the most highly indulgenced medal in the Catholic Church. The medal has a cross with letters inscribed, representing a Latin prayer; the faithful wear it to ward off evil, as protection against danger and sickness, and to procure assistance at the hour of death.

San Beda Alabang even gives medal car stickers to Bedan-owned cars. This strong symbol of faith, which can only be blessed by a Benedictine monk, is a cornerstone of the school, for no Benedictine student ever leaves the school’s four walls without owning one.

With this strong regard for the medal, a group of young entrepreneurs got the idea to wear the medal in a different light, and turned it into a tee. Daniel Cailao, one of the designers of Red Trend shirts, explained that they wanted to show the richness of Bedan culture, which isn’t just about collegiate basketball.

“Our marketing slogan is to know your roots,” he explained. In order to move forward, one must look to the past—in this case, looking back 1,500 years, to the time of the school’s patron.

Though the medal’s significance is taught to students as early as grade school, students may not fully grasp the essence in an academic setting. That is why shirts were also made for young Bedans, to see the importance of their Benedictine roots in a medium they can relate to. “We want to remind them where they come from,” said Cailao.

1. San Beda. Even without Sudan Daniel, the team still ranks on top. Borgie Hermida, an essential part of the squad, will be sorely missed but Frankie Lim has a lot of players at his disposal. Baser Amer is poised to be the next big thing in college. It’s hard to pick a main man for the squad because almost all of the Lions can deliver when needed. Expect Garvo Lanete to carry the scoring load.

Like father, like son. This best describes how Rome Dela Rosa idolizes his father, Romeo "Romy" Dela Rosa.

The elder Dela Rosa was a former professional basketball player in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA), playing for Shell Rimula X from 1989 to 1993 and later on for Sta. Lucia.

He also played for the Negros Slashers, Davao Eagles, and Pampanga Dragons in the now defunct Metropolitan Basketball Association (MBA).

The younger Dela Rosa, meanwhile, currently plays for the San Beda Red Lions in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).

Rome came from San Diego, California to play basketball in the Philippines. He was recommended to San Beda and started playing as small forward last year and is now considered one of the team's go-to guys.

Like any scion of a noted basketball player, Rome admits that expectations from other people are unavoidable but he manages to focus on his goal.

"There is always a pressure on my part because the name is already there. A lot is expected from me but my dad usually tells me to just relax and don't be too excited," says the 6-foot-4 Rome.

Rome says he always looks up to his dad as an inspiration.
No Daniel, no problem.

Defending champion San Beda ran roughshod over an overmatched host University of Perpetual Help, 82-52, in the opening game of the NCAA Season 87 Saturday at the Araneta Coliseum.

The win stretched the Red Lions historical run to 19 games dating back to last season. “It’s a good start for us and good message to the league that we’re looking for another championship without Sudan [Daniel],” said San Beda Coach Frankie Lim.

And the message is clear: San Beda, sans Daniel, is still the deepest team in the 10-squad league with a slew of reliable players led by skipper Garvo Lanete.

This time though, it was the Red Lions’ bigs who forefronted their onslaught. Jake Pascual and Dave Marcelo each had a double-double while forward Rome Dela Rosa topscored with 15 points for San Beda, which posted 33-point leads thrice.

Pascual scored 12 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, while Marcelo stepped up in place of Daniel with 10 points, 15 boards and three blocks.

In celebration of the 110 years of San Beda College, there will be a unity run for the benefit of San Beda College of Law Legal Aid Bureau, scholars of San Beda Institutional Community Involvement Center (ICIC), SBC Benedictine Educational Foundation Inc. (BEFI) and SBC Track and Field team.

Suddenly, it's wide open. The San Beda Red Lions were dominant last season, but after a graduation and a key injury, plus the emergence of new and improved players from other schools, what once was a sure thing has turned into a more level playing field.

Season 87 of the NCAA kicks off on Saturday with an assortment of contenders and long-shots. Which college or university falls under which category? The ten competing schools are ranked below into tiers, based on their chances of lifting the trophy when the dust has settles.

Tier One: The Favorite
It’s sports cliché to wave one’s hand and say, “They’re the defending champs until someone takes that away from them.” But in the case of San Beda, there’s nothing wrong with that, seeing as how they have the most talented roster from top to bottom. Odds are good that the Red Lions will repeat, but two key player losses -- Borgie Hermida to graduation and Sudan Daniel to a knee injury -- means that unlike last year, they won’t go through the season without at least one defeat, and they could be in for a real fight against certain teams.

San Beda College (Season 86: 1st place, 16-0)Head Coach: Frankie Lim
Additions: Baser Amer, Ryusei Koga, Paolo PontejosSubtractions: Borgie Hermida, Jaypee Mendoza, Dave MoraldeHoldovers: Anjo Caram, Sudan Daniel*, Rome Dela Rosa, Garvo Lanete, Melo Lim, Dave Marcelo, Jake Pascual, Kyle Pascual, Anthony Semerad, David Semerad, Mychole Sorela, Mar Villahermosa
The reigning NCAA champions swept their way through the field last season, and seemed poised for another title run until news broke that "Superman" Sudan Daniel had torn an ACL in their April 9 preseason encounter against Ateneo. Losing Season 86’s Defensive Player of the Year is a huge blow, but with guys like Dave Marcelo, Jake Pascual, and the Semerad twins on tap, the big man play of San Beda will still be formidable; the main difference will be that the Lions won’t shut down the painted area automatically like last year.
Excerpt from Inquirer.net:

Despite losing last year’s MVP Sudan Daniel to injury, coach Frankie Lim knows his Red Lions remain a favorite against host Perpetual Help in the opener of the three-game bill at 2 p.m.

“We’re not as strong as last year because we don’t have Sudan, so we just have to work with what we have,” said Lim. “But my belief is we’re good. We have the materials—we have our bigs, our shooters, a good point guard—so we’ll still be fighting.”

The Red Lions, meanwhile, will need to double their effort with the American Daniel out for the rest of the season due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury.
Weakened by the absence of import Sudan Daniel, San Beda College expects a rough sailing when it opens its title-retention bid Saturday against host University of Perpetual Help at the start of the 87th NCAA basketball tournament at the Araneta Coliseum.

“The biggest challenge for us is to win minus Sudan Daniel,” Red Lions coach Frankie Lim said Friday.

The country’s oldest collegiate league begins with a 12 noon opening ceremony which will be keynoted by boxing superstar and Rep. Manny Pacquiao.

The Lions dominated the field last year en route to an 18-0 romp for their 15th cage crown overall.

But without the American center, who suffered an ACL injury during the Filoil preseason tournament last April, they lost “10 points and 10 rebounds output per game,” Lim said.

Daniel, though, is still listed on the active roster.

The NCAA will showcase the best collegiate performers when the league opens on July 2 at the Araneta Coliseum.

NCAA Management Committee (ManComm) chairman Mike Del Mundo said they decided to tap college students to give them a chance to show their talent in the 1 p.m. opening ceremonies.

"All the production numbers will be performed by college students. There will be no professional performers. We want to give the college students a chance," said Del Mundo in Tuesday's Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) Forum.

A drumline competition will also be held before the scheduled triple-header to open the basketball season.

As part of its advocacy to promote basketball in the country, Freego Jeans has partnered with NCAA defending champion San Beda College and UAAP top title contender Adamson for the coming collegiate tournaments.

Freego officials, led by its president Nelson Chan, said the agreement signed recently with both schools will make the country’s leading jeans maker the official provider of their uniforms.

“We’re happy to announce our new partnership with a champion school like San Beda. We, at Freego, also make sure we are champions in terms of delivering quality jeans and clothing for the market,” said Chan.

“Adamson is an aggressive team, we are very positive about their chance and would be very glad to contribute to its success this season,” added Chan.

Even without American center Sudan Daniel, San Beda Freego officials are confident that the Frankie Lim-mentored Red Lions can retain their title knowing they have the support of the entire San Beda community.

Garvo Lanete, Jake Pascual and Dave Marcelo will spearhead the Red Lions anew as they bid to win their fifth title in six years.
