San Beda goes for a record 19th crown today against CSB-La Salle Greenhills in the third game of their NCAA juniors basketball finals series at The Arena in San Juan.

Thanks to a narrow 74-73 win on Monday, the Red Cubs can break their one-year stranglehold with Mapua for the most number of high school cage titles when they take on the Greenies at 2 p.m.

Coached by Brit Reroma, the Taytay-based cagers drew strong games from Francis Abarcar, Arvin Tolentino, Daryl Nazareno and Antonio Bonsubre to hack out a thrilling victory over LSGH.

The win made up for a stunning 85-82 loss in last week’s Game 1 battle at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.

That handed the Red Cubs their first loss of the season after sweeping the 18-game elimination round.

San Beda entered the finals with a thrice-to-beat advantage, an incentive for finishing the elims with a perfect record.

Reroma, who last season took over from the legendary Ato Badolato, hopes to see his team put up the same effort in its bid to close out the gritty Greenies.

Expect LSGH to put up another gallant fight with Mario Bonleon, Thomas Torres, Jon Villaruz and Andre Paras around.

A win by the John Flores-mentored Greenies, a fourth-and-deciding game will be held on Monday.
