The 2-time NCAA Champions San Beda, leaned on Rome Dela Rosa's 25-point explosion as it turned back a stubborn Junmar Fajardo and the rest of the University of Cebu side to nail its first win and remain in finals contention.

The Red Lions and the Blue Eagles, who were both 1-1 (win-loss), will thus play in the knockout match on Friday for the right to meet the Stags in the finals.

"We had a lot of fastbreak points and Rome (Dela Rosa) hit his shots. That sealed (the win for) us," said San Beda coach Frankie Lim, who was missing key players Garvo Lanete, Jake Pascual, the Semerad twins Anthony and David, and Sudan Daniel due to various reasons.

Junmar Fajardo, the mammoth 6-10 center who scored 49 points in their recent game in Leyte, bounced back from a lethargic game in the Ateneo rout with 24 points and 14 boards but couldn't hit the shots that mattered in the stretch as the Webmasters bowed out of contention.
