San Beda coach Frankie Lim slammed the sanctions handed down by the NCAA against him and members of the Red Lions squad late Tuesday night.

“The sanctions given to us are malicious and ridiculous,” Lim wrote in a text message to News5. “My impression is that they’re showing SBC the door.”

Lim was handed a two-year ban by the NCAA for his role in a brawl involving members of the Red Lions and the San Sebastian volleyball team last December. Roger Gorayeb, the coach of the San Sebastian squad, was also banned for two years.

But the Red Lions bore the brunt of the sanctions by the NCAA. Incoming Red Lions members Adeogun and Julius Armon were banned next seasonand are barred from entering any NCAA venue as supporters in Season 88.

Center Dave Marcelo was handed a three-game suspension for his role in the melee, while one-game sanctions were handed to Red Lions Kyle Pascual, Jake Pascual, Jaypee Mendoza, Rysie Koga, Garvo Lanete, Rome de la Rosa, Melo Lim, Daniel Sudan, Mar Villahermosa, Baser Amer and Anjo Caram. San Beda assistant Ed Cordero was also slapped a one-game suspension.
