NCAA Is Set For Season 88, Promises To Bring "Greater Heights"?

Season 87 host UPHSD officially turned over the hosting of Season 88 to Letran last March 15, 2012.

Aside from Fr. Lana and Tamayo of CSJL and UPHSD respectively, other school heads and presidents who attended in the turnover ceremony were Mapua's Dr. Reynaldo Vea, San Beda's Fr. Aloysius Maranan, OSB, San Sebastian's Fr. Anthony Morillo, OAR, Arellano U's Francisco Cayco and Dr. Jose Paulo E. Campos among others.

"This year’s league promises more excitement and certainly greater surprises as the association ties up with a new media partner for the next three years. We just hope that this new partnership would provide us with greater opportunities to attract and develop more effectively young men and women who manifest great potentials in the field of sports, and thus contribute something to the sport development program of the country which direly needs support of the various sectors, particularly the educational sector. Letran considers its hosting as a distinct privilege to spearhead the Associatio's endeavor to bring it to "greater heights", Fr. Lana said.

NCAA Season 88's theme is "Celebramos 88! Conquistar por tu Honor Nuevas Glorias" (Celebrate 88! Conquering new glories for your honor).

In the same manner, Fr. Victor Calvo, athletics moderator of Letran, expressed high hopes for NCAA in the coming season to tread new frontier for the oldest collegiate league. "We are all set to give new glories for the NCAA" Fr. Victor Calvo of Letran added.


The Opening Ceremonies of NCAA Season 88 will be held at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in June 2012 with *NCAA rivals San Beda (season 87 champions) and Letran (season 88 host) to open the basketball tournament.

AKTV is the official broadcast partner of the NCAA starting next season. This new partnership of NCAA and AKTV will open to new opportunities including live weekend games and coverage for all NCAA events.  

*opening game is subject to change due to a 2-game "suspension" imposed by the NCAA Policy Board to San Beda.

    ay, hindi na pala studio 23 ang telecast, naku, mas checheap ang ncaa at mas mahuhuli sa uaap, sayang naman

    it seems that studio 23 prioritizes the UAAP in terms of coverage than NCAA. for example, no weekend coverages for NCAA but UAAP has the entire weekend for themselves.
