San Beda College is not keen on leaving the National Collegiate Athletic Association and transferring to another league.

School officials expressed their sentiments on remaining in the NCAA after their men’s basketball head coach Frankie Lim was banned for two years for his involvement in a brawl last Dec. 2.

San Beda College’s vice president for finance and team administrator Fr. Rafael Alaras said that the school’s success in winning the overall championship for the second straight year has inspired them to stay put and do better again next season.

“Hindi kami galit. We’re looking at the situation, and we’re going to be logical about it. We will negotiate and appeal (on the case of the San Beda Red Lions men’s basketball team),” said Alaras.

Three years ago, San Beda officials, led by former rector Fr. Mat de Jesus, opened the door to such a possibility if the school gains university status from the Commission on Higher Education in the next few months.

But the school’s current success in getting the overall crown is keeping the school from entertaining such thoughts.
