San Beda Red Cubs Win Gold Coast Tournament
Five-peat NCAA Juniors champions San Beda Red Cubs proved once again why they are the most revered high school basketball team in the country after conquering another tournament, this time in the land Down Under.
Completing a seven-game sweep of the “Christmas on the Coast International Junior Basketball Challenge” held in Palm Beach, Gold Coast, Australia from December 16 to 19, the young high school Bedans represented the Philippines well by capturing the championship with a pulsating 94-89 victory over local team Brisbane Indigenous Ravens on Thursday. The Red Cubs bested seven other teams including the top junior club from Singapore.
San Beda juniors star Arvin Tolentino, who is being lured by top college teams from the UAAP and NCAA, bagged the tournament MVP award and was voted to the tournament Mythical All-Star 5 along with teammate Ranbill Tongco, Brisbane’s Jesse Ghee, Singapore’s Qing Huang, and McKinnon’s Max Cody. continue reading here
