A new basketball season means a new crop of rookies. The games have just begun but this lad from down under has stood out in the National Collegiate Athletic Association.

It's too humid, there are too many traffic jams, and the basketball system is harder, but the girls are amazing. This is how Anthony Semerad, one half of San Beda's twin Fil-Aussies, describes the Philippines.

Although he's spent most of his life in Brisbane and he's got golden irises that put the Cullens to shame, there's a Filipino deep in his veins. Besides, his mom is a full-blooded Filipina. Asked what his favorite Tagalog word is, he replies "Ma-guhn-duh" complete with a wide smile and a funny Australian accent.

Anthony considers his stint in the Australian Juniors his greatest basketball achievement yet, but he's just as psyched and challenged to be suiting up for the undefeated Red Lions with his fraternal twin David.

"[The worst thing about being a rookie] is that the seniors don't trust your style as much. But as the years go by, you get their trust. It's just like that when meeting new players. It's always hard," he says.

Just like anything new, everybody wants to get a piece of the Semerad. When he first moved to San Beda, people would buzz and girls would scream the moment he arrives. Until now, people stare at him when he goes out in public.

"It feels good," he beams. "But you just act like you don't notice, like it's normal."

The kind of attention he hopes to get though, includes high-scoring games and winning. Well, he pretty much gets the best of both worlds.

What were you doing at midnight last night?
AS: Sleeping.

What do you consider your best body part?
AS: I would say eyes because of the color. It's different.

What's the worst date you have had to bear with?
AS: When I was on a double date, my brother brought me but I didn't really like the girl. It's just that he wanted me to go there so I just went. But it was terrible.

Who's the most famous person you've ever met?
AS: Probably Akon or Justin Timberlake. Personally, Ginobili from the Spurs.

What did you do for your last birthday?
AS: I was on a plane going to the States so I couldn't do much.

Name three things you can't live without.
AS: My phone, computer and family.

What's the first thing you notice in a girl?

AS: Her body and her face.

What's your most favorite movie and why?
AS: Right now, "Hot Tub Time Machine" because it's so funny.

Do you have a secret talent?
AS: I can fish. (The longest he's stayed out fishing is three days. Three fish-filled days.)

What's your idea of a first date?
AS: Go eat, watch a movie, stuff like that.

What do you like most in a girl?
AS: It has to be her personality. They're not using me. Because a lot of girls here want social status and stuff like that. I love the girls who don't want that, just 'cause they like you for who you are.

Who's your personal hero and why?
AS: It would be my dad because he gives me a lot of information, like from his experience in the past. I look up to that. (His dad wasn't a baller, he was a boxer!)
