San Beda College moved on the threshold of completing a record 16-game sweep of the elimination round with a 74-56 victory over Letran in the 86th NCAA basketball tournament at The Arena in San Juan.

With the 6-foot-8 American import Sudan Daniel imposing his will down low, the Red Lions broke free early in the fourth period to move within a win of sweeping the two-round elims that will give them an automatic finals berth.

Daniel pumped in double-double job of 14 points and 19 rebounds, while Adler Dela Rosa had 19 points.

With the win, the Red Lions inched closer from becoming the first team in 13 years to complete a sweep. The last team to achieve it was San Sebastian when the Stags went 12-0 in the 1996.

The Knights fought valiantly all through out, but did not have enough firepower in the end after five players exited the game in the second half due to fouls. The Knights dropped to 6-8.
