San Beda sparkle in interschool taekwondo

San Beda College and Rizal Technological University emerged as senior men’s and women’s advance team champions, respectively, but University of Baguio stole the thunder by dominating the lighter categories in the recent Smart national interschool taekwondo championships at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

The Bedans toppled RTU and University of Baguio while RTU’s lady jins whipped Letran and Philippine Women’s University.


But the prodigious Baguio athletes ruled the junior women’s and gradeschool boys’ and girls’ categories.

UB beat Paco Catholic School and Sta. Barbara in the junior women’s competition, St. Louis University (Baguio) and OLOPS in the boys’ group and NCLC and De La Salle Zobel in the girls’ event.

Juan Sumulong Memorial Junior College also made it to the podium by topping UB and Arellano University for the junior men’s title.

Lightweight Ron Servito and middle/heavy Butch de Vera delivered the golds for San Beda in the senior men’s advance competition.

Feather Everlasting Suarez, welter Joy Anne Malang and middle/heavy Sandra Santosidad bagged a gold each for the RTU belles.
