THE COUNTRY’S oldest collegiate basketball league seems bent on easing out the newest phenomenon to hit schools and universities.

According to a highly-placed source, both the NCAA Policy Board and Management Committee have begun deliberating on a proposal to ban foreign cagers from suiting up for the league’s member-schools. The source, who requested anonymity, explained that the issue was tackled in a meeting this week despite the absence of representatives from schools that have enlisted the services of foreign players.

The proposal, the source emphasized, aims to rid the league of foreign players effective 2011, or NCAA Season 87. If it is approved, the likes of Sudan Daniel of San Beda College and John Nchotu Njei and Joe Etame of Jose Rizal University will be barred from seeing action in the NCAA. Arellano University prospects Charles Mammie and Christopher Okte will also be affected by the potential ruling.
