Mancom orders for research on foreign players

The NCAA Policy Board gave the Management Committee strict marching orders to research and study further the issue concerning foreign players particularly in the basketball competition before it could render a final decision on the matter.
"At a special meeting of the NCAA Policy Board held last Dec. 3 at the ELJ Towers in Quezon CXity, the Policy Board reiterated its previous decision arrived at during the Nov. 12 PolicyBoard for the Management Committee to thoroughly study the issue regarding foreign players before a final decision is made," said the league board chaired by Fr. Anthony Morillo, OAR, of host San Sebastian in a statement.
"Accordingly, the Policy Board instructed the NCAA Management Committee to submit its views at its next meeting," it added.
The discussion spawned on the issue on foreign players currently suiting up for several cage teams in the NCAA including reigning champion San Beda's 6-7 American behemoth and MVP Sudan Daniel.
Jose Rizal also paraded Cameroonians John Nchoty Njei and Joe Etame in Season 86 as well as Emilio Aguinaldo, which also put Malaysian-Chinese Wei Lim in its roster but drew some questions on whether or not he played in a professional league in Malaysia.
The league had actually allowed foreign players to suit up for the any athletic team in the past but it only caught huge attention after Nigerian Sam Ekwe carried the Lions on his shoulders with an NCAA three-peat from 2006 to 2008.
There were also some plans by other schools to recruit a foreign players themselves to keep up with other foreign players-backed squads.
Management Committee chair Frank Gusi also of San Sebastian said they're now in the process of studying the issue before making an official recommendation on the matter soon.
"We're now doing that," said Gusi.
The league also stressed in a statement that no final decision has been rendered on whether or not to allow foreign players to continue to play in the league.
"Contrary to press reports, the Policy Board wishes to clarify that the NCAA has not yet made any final decision on the matter, and that all deliberations concerning this issue have been made in accordance with the NCAA consitution and by-laws," it said.
