NCAA scribes to honor Garvo Lanete

San Beda's Garvo Lanete has earned himself a Pivotal Player award for the big role he played during the Finals of the NCAA Season 86
Lanete will be honored when the UAAP-NCAA Press Corps holds the Collegiate Basketball Awards on Jan. 17 at the Topaz 1 of the Gateway Suites in Cubao.
He will join San Beda coach Frankie Lim in the list of winners that will be feted by the country's leading broadsheets and tabloids who covered the collegiate basketball beat this past season.
Coach Frankie Lim has earlier named the NCAA Coach of the Year.
In a team loaded with role players, it was Lanete who shone brightest to help San Beda complete a historic 18-game sweep of the 86th season.
He averaged 15.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists against deposed champion San Sebastian in the finals.
Other awards to be given are the Collegiate Mythical Team that features the five best players from both leagues, the Super Seniors plum and the UAAP and NCAA Juniors Player of the Year.Backing the awarding rites are Smart, ACCEL, 316, FilOil, Terrilicious, Gatorade, San Miguel Corporation and the Philippine Sportswriters Association.
