Baser Amer to receive NCAA Junior Player of the Year

Two of the best high school prospects in the land will also be recognized by the UAAP-NCAA Press Corps in the Collegiate Basketball Awards on Jan. 17 at the Topaz 1 of the Gateway Suites in Cubao, Quezon City.

One of them is San Beda’s Baser Amer who was an easy choice by the group of writers from various broadsheets and tabloids covering the collegiate beat as their respective league’s Juniors Player of the Year honors.

Amer, who is likely to stay put for his highly-anticipated collegiate careers, will join an elite list of awardees in this special night that will start at 7 p.m. presented by Smart and supposed by ACCEL, 316, FilOil, Terrilicious, Gatorade, San Miguel Corporation and the Philippine Sportswriters Association.

Frankie Lim of San Beda is named NCAA Coach of the Year, while Sudan Daniels is one of the members of the Collegiate Mythical Five.

San Beda’s Borgie Hermida will receive the Super Senior honors with Garvo Lanete set to take the Pivotal Player awards.

The event will also hand out a Posthumous award to the late Abante photographer John Paulino while paying tribute to the late former UAAP and NCAA deputy commissioner Tanny Gonzales and web writer/photographer Quincy Reyes, who recently passed away at age 22.
