Bedan Community Is Still Proud Of The Alabang Girls
By Luis San Juan
Despite failing to place at the recent WNCAA Cheerleading competition, the Bedan community is still very proud of the San Beda -Alabang squad. The road to the WNCAA was no easy task for the Alabang girls, having to change the routine just a day before the competition because one of their flyers suffered a fractured leg during practice.
But this year’s competition showcased San Beda’s strong sense of family despite of the loss, the San Beda Red Corps and college band came in full support, even the squad from St. Scholastica applauded the girls. And during the announcement of the winners, the Alabang cheerleaders from previous batches came in the middle of the court to be with the girls; this has become an Alabang squad tradition.
The Alabang girls have still shown that strong Bedan fighting spirit, optimism and humility. That is why it was poignant to see a baller id which reflected somewhat what we think of them, “Once a Bedan, always a Champion!” Animo San Beda!
The battle isn’t over.
Please support the Alabang squad as they compete in the National Cheerleading Championships on March 5, 2011 Saturday at the Ynares Sports Stadium in Mandaluyong. The competition starts at 11 am.

Thank you Bedan community for your support to the squad - win or lose. As a parent, I was witness to the stress and anxiety the girls had to go through the day before and during the WNCAA competition as they learned that one of their flyer had a fracture. They had to be in school at 5am to change their routine. Up till 7:30 a.m., they were still at it and the competition was to start at 10am. It takes a champion to be able to manage what they did. Am so proud of the team that day. Sometimes it is not just in winning that a true champion emerges. Animo San Beda! - Jo Carpio (parent)
