San Beda Teams Make Semifinals

San Beda College teams entered the semifinals of the 12-under and 15-under divisions of the Freego Hoop Challenge after convincing wins recently at the Xavier Gym in San Juan.

San Beda-A and San Beda-B both finished the 15-under eliminations with identical 4-0 records in Group A and Group B, respectively, while its 12-under team ruled its bracket overall with a 5-0 mark in this tournament organized by Coach E Basketball School and backed by Freego Jeans.

San Beda-A beat National University, 68-66, with Andrei Caracut showing the way with 21 points, while the Red Cubs’ second team also edged Xavier School , 61-53 with Kevin Oleodo at the firing end with 20.

In another game, Antipolo Lady of Lourdes School routed Lourdes School of Mandaluyong as Marvin Lee tallied 18 and John Del Espiritu Santo contributed 10.

The two teams join ALLS (3-1) and National University (3-1) in the semifinals set late Thursday. San Beda A meets ALLS while its other Red Cubs team will be up against NU.

In the 12-under class, Josh Tagala’s powered San Beda-A to a 40-30 win as the Red Cubs’ second team missed the semifinals via a weaker quotient despite winning over San Sebastian College-Recoletos, 63-15.
