Defending champion San Beda seeks to rejoin San Sebastian atop the leaderboard when it battles Emilio Aguinaldo College Friday in the 87th NCAA basketball tournament at The Arena in San Juan.
The Red Lions are seeking to rebound from a horrible performance against College of Saint Benilde exactly a week ago although they escaped with a 79-78 victory.
Gametime is set at 2 p.m. before Perpetual Help and CSB duel in the other game at 4 p.m.
The scary win obviously disappoint coach Frankie Lim, who hopes to see his team put up a more feisty showing against the Generals.
“We almost got burned,” said Lim, whose squad has been saddled with the loss of MVP Sudan Daniel to an ACL injury. “I’m not happy with the way we played against St Benilde but hopefully we can do better this time.”
Guard Garvo Lanete will lead the Mendiola-based cagers alongside Dave Marcelo, Jake Pascual, Kyle Pascual and rookie Baser Amer, who had his most productive game with 11 points.
San Beda will not only try to tie San Sebastian at 5-0 but also extend its winning streak to 23 games dating back to the start of last season.
EAC, despite 18 points from an improving Jan Jamon, looks to bounce back from an 80-63 loss to Mapua on Wednesday.
