SBC-Alabang Stays Unbeaten In WNCAA Volleyball
Five senior teams extended their winning streaks while De La Salle Zobel made headway in the midget and junior levels in the 42nd WNCAA tournament on Aug. 28,Sunday.
Centro Escolar University routed San Beda College Alabang, 90-56, and Emilio Aguinaldo College slipped past host Rizal Technological University, 61-58, to post similar 4-0 slates in senior basketball at the St. Scholastica gym.
Over at the RTU gym, Alabang Lady Spikers downed EAC, 25-6, 14-25, 25-6, 25-9, and RTU thumped Philippine Women's University, 25-13, 25-23, 25-17, to also notch 4-0 marks.
In senior futsal at the EAC gym, PWU blanked EAC, 4-0, to improve to 3-0-0 (win-loss-draw).
DLSZ, meanwhile, dumped Poveda, 60-19, to stay unbeaten in two starts in midget basketball. In midget volleyball, it streaked to its fourth straight victory in as many matches after a 25-14, 25-13 decision over Miriam College. In junior futsal, DLSZ dominated sister school La Salle College Antipolo, 8-0, for a 3-0 start.
DLSZ is the defending champion in all three events.
The league, being supported by Mikasa, Molten, Goody, MJC Press and AGR Xperts Corporation, cancelled all its Saturday (Aug. 27) matches due to inclement weather.
In other senior basketball results, Miriam barged into the win column after three tries, beating St. Scholastica's College, 60-51, and University of Asia & the Pacific now has an even 2-2 card as it edged PWU, 77-71.
Miriam occupies solo second in senior volleyball at 3-1 after stopping UA&P, 25-23, 25-23, 26-24, and CEU tied PWU for third sot at 2-2 with a 25-22, 26-24, 20-25, 25-17 triumph over St. Scholastica.
AKTV (IBC 13 and Sky Cable channel 15) telecasts weekly highlights of the WNCAA matches while results are regularly aired over Monster Radio RX 93.1.
