Magsanoc May Lead Red Lions' NCAA Campaign?

Ronnie Magsanoc may take over as the new head coach of the San Beda Red Lions after Frankie Lim bade the team goodbye last Tuesday - which is not yet official (see related post).

The bid to have Magsanoc take the place of Lim in the coming season of the 88th National Collegiate Athletic Association men’s basketball tournament got a big boost from basketball patron Manny V. Pangilinan.

Talk ‘N Text chief Ricky Vargas informed Lim of Pangilinan’s sentiments following talks held last Monday and told him of his desire to have  Magsanoc  take over the coaching chores.

“Yes, that’s true (on having said farewell to the team). But I will give my thoughts after I have talked to Mr. Pangilinan tomorrow,” said Lim following a huddle with the Red Lions during a practice yesterday morning.

Lim added  that he will discuss his plans and sentiments with Pangilinan. Lim’s job was supposed to be delegated  to  the team’s assistant coaches, Boni Garcia and JB Sison, while he serves out a two-year suspension.

Garcia and Sison are the school’s primary choices to handle the Red Lions in Lim’s absence.

On the other hand, Ateneo junior coach Jamike Jarin is said to be Pangilinan’s second choice.

But sources said officials of the school, headed by Fr. Rector Aloysius Maranan, are still discussing Lim’s fate, along with assistant coach Ed Cordero.

  1. I hope the college athletic department and the San Beda alumni would consider a former Red Cubs under Coach Badolato as a candidate to replace varsity basketball team head coach, DINDO PUMAREN.
