San Beda yesterday asked the NCAA Policy Board to reduce the penalty slapped on two of its banned foreign players and suspended local cagers for their involvement in a brawl during a volleyball game at San Beda’s St. Placid Gym last December.

San Sebastian athletic director Frank Gusi also appealed the two-year ban meted on SSC volleyball mentor Roger Gorayeb.

In a letter signed by San Beda rector president Fr. Aloysius Maranan and submitted by its Management Committee representative Jose Mari Lacson, San Beda sought for a two- or three-game suspension on Nigerian Ola Adeogun and American Julius Armon instead of one year.

San Beda also appealed for the two-game suspensions of Kyle Pascual, Jake Pascual, Jaypee Mendoza, Rysie Koga, Rome dela Rosa, Jose Carmelo Lim, Baser Amer and Antonio Caram be reduced to just a game.

"The school is appealing for the reduction of their punishments," San Beda athletic director Ato Badolato told The STAR.

The league board chaired by Fr. Tamerlane Lana, OP, of Season 88 host Letran is expected to tackle both motions when it meets on Monday at the Letran campus in Intramuros.

Meanwhile, San Beda has accepted the resignation of Frankie Lim, who quit his post the other day.

"Yes, the school (San Beda) has accepted his (Lim) resignation," said Badolato. "Within the week, they will name the new coach."

Former PBA star and Red Cub Ronnie Magsanoc is reportedly has the inside track on the coaching post.
