Red Cubs Prevail Over Chiang Kai Shek In 18th FMC
The University of Perpetual Help Altas, the San Beda-A Red Cubs and the Adamson Baby Falcons came up with decisive wins to boost their chances of reaching the quarterfinals of the 18th Fr. Martin Summer Cup basketball tournament.
The Altas, drawing 12 and 11 points from Femi Babayemi and Scott Thompson, needed two big rallies to clobber the Trinity University of Asia Stallions, 76-66, at the Dom Placid gymnasium of the San Beda-Manila campus in Mendiola.
The Red Cubs got a huge boost from Arvin Dave Tolentino as they slew the Chiang Kai Shek Dragons, 64-58, in the juniors division at the San Andres Complex in Malate, Manila.
Vamico Barroga scored 13 points for the Adamson Baby Falcons, who outplayed San Beda-B, 73-57.
The Altas picked up their 4th win in 5 games, and they moved behind the unbeaten Letran Knights (5-0), in Group B.
The Red Cubs, with Tolentino firing a game-high 21 points, marched to their fifth consecutive victory in Group A of the junior division, while the Baby Falcons remained ahead in Group B at 4-0.
