San Beda Aims For Another Win, Battles Pirates
League leader San Beda try to pull away from the rest of the field when it battles less fancied foe today at the start of the second-round eliminations of the 88th NCAA basketball tournament at The Arena in San Juan.
Looking sharper and deadlier in each game, the defending champion Red Lions clash with the Lyceum Pirates at 6 p.m.
San Beda finished the first-round elims tied with Jose Rizal University and San Sebastian at 7-2 and a win would fortify their bid for the next round. Lyceum, on their part, dwells on the cellar with a 2-7 record.
The Red Lions are fresh from a 65-43 win over the Letran Knights Thursday night.
San Beda aims for a repeat of their contrasting first-round wins against the Pirates wherein they [SBC] trounced LPU, 82-67, last July 2.
San Beda coach Ronnie Magsanoc is pinning his hopes on key players Jake Pascual and Ola Adeogun to step up despite producing decent numbers in their last game against Letran.
Pascual coughed up five points but collared 12 boards and two blocks, while Adeogun had 10 points and six rebounds.
Lyceum, however, has Chris Cayabyab, Rich Guevarra and Shane Ko to match up with San Beda’s prowess.
