More Out-Of-Town Games For NCAA
The National Collegiate Athletic Association hopes to continue bringing its games to the province as it is planning another out-of-town sporting event next year.
The country’s oldest sports league achieved a milestone in the first semester when it held two men’s basketball games in Sta. Cruz, Laguna last July and the whole beach volleyball tournament in Subic Bay, Zambales in August.
And in February, track and field is planned to take place also in Sta. Cruz Laguna.
NCAA season 88 chairman Fr. Vic Calvo, O.P. announced the news, along with the opening of other second-semester sports, on Tuesday in the Philippine Sportswriters Association Forum at Shakey’s Malate.
After volleyball gets the ball rolling on November 20, the NCAA continues next year, with football (January 12), lawn tennis (January 14), soft tennis (January 18), taekwondo (February 8), badminton (February 20), track and field (February 28), and cheerleading (March 7) in the schedule.
According to Fr. Calvo, the volleyball games will be televised, including the finals of lawn tennis, football, taekwondo, and cheerleading.
