Red Paddlers Starts Five Peat Quest In Table Tennis

Founding Manila Sports Council chairman, now 5th District councilor Ali Atienza was the guest of honor and speaker of the 89th NCAA table tennis competition which opened last on Monday at the Harrison Plaza Activity Center in Malate, Manila.

The former Asian taekwondo champion was invited by event chairman Frank Gusi of San Sebastian College-Recolletos to grace the opening rites scheduled and gave some inspirational message to the young paddle wielders of the country’ s oldest collegiate league.

Defending senior champion San Beda College Red Paddlers started their title retention bid against Jose Rizal University in the opening game at Table 2.

Other games that were played simultaneously were the two women’ matches featuring San Beda Lady Red Paddlers and JRU Lady Bombers in Table 1 and Letran College against Mapua in Table 6 and three senior matches consists of Letran- Lyceum  in Table 3,St.Benilde- Mapua in Table 4 and Emilio Aguinaldo College-Perpetual Help in Table 6.

All teams will play each other in the first round where the top four teams advances into the second round with the team topping the two rounds will be automatically declared champion.
