Kyle Pascual Stays For One More Season With SBC

After deep thought, San Beda center Kyle Pascual has decided to return for his final year with the Red Lions next season.

Pascual had a series of talks with school management before finally deciding to stay and help the team win a fifth straight title.

The athletic big man was an instrumental part in the Red Lions’ title run this past season, tag-teaming with Ola Adeogun to help terrorize opponents in the paint.

Pascual said his decision to return is based on growing more as a basketball player.

“I think it’s a better opportunity for me to get more exposure and improve myself as a player if I stay one more year,” said Pascual, who is planning to join the PBA draft after next season.

With Pascual’s commitment, San Beda coach Boyet Fernandez heaved a sigh of relief.

The Red Lions core will be vital for their title defense next season because the school has not been aggressive in recruiting prospects from other high schools.

“Kasi ako, nirerespeto ko yung ibang schools na may high school team at college team din sa UAAP at NCAA,” said Fernandez. “Hindi ko ni-re-recruit yun kasi nirerespeto ko yung ibang schools to have a first crack at their alumni.”
