San Beda To Face CESAFI Teams In Mayor's Cup

The toughness of the local collegiate teams will be tested when they start their respective campaigns in the Cebu City Mayor’s Cup Inter-Collegiate Basketball Tournament 2014 title at the Cebu Coliseum today.

Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc.’s (CESAFI) 10-time champions Univeristy of the Visayas Green Lancers, Sinulog Cup runner-up University of San Jose-Recoletos Jaguars and Cesafi’s third placer University of San Carlos Warriors will take turns in playing National Collegiate Athletic Association four-time champions San Beda College Red Lions for the P50,000 top prize.

At 5:30 p.m., the Warriors will play the Lancers, while the Jaguars faces the Red Lions in the 7 p.m. match.

An elaborate opening rites will precede the games with the Miss Cebu 2014 and her

court serving as the muses of the four competing teams.

The tournament is just one of the many tune-up matches for the teams who are seeking glory when the CESAFI regular season in August.

San Beda will be fielding the same players that will see action in the FilOil Flying V Premier Cup which will start on April 23 while UV will parade its new local recruits.
