Given that San Beda Red Lions lost to Ateneo at the Fil-Oil Finals, but let us look at the whole picture of the 2011 Fil-Oil Cup.
San Beda Red Lions beat Adamson Falcons (UAAP), UP Fighting Maroons (UAAP), UST Growling Tigers (UAAP), San Sebastian Golden Stags, DLSU green Archers (UAAP), Lyceum and lost by 3pts to both NU Bulldogs and Ateneo Blue Eagles at the beginning of the pre-season tournament. San Beda College is a much smaller school in comparison to these big universities with a much larger pool of players. We are not in competition with Ateneo nor any other UAAP schools except during this pre-season tournament.
We are exceptionally blessed with a great coaching staff and players on both seniors and juniors division and reigning champions of the NCAA and ADMU Blue Eagles reigns as well in their respective division. This is the reason people forget that we are the underdogs; however, our Red Lions basketball team can beat almost every one of them in any given tournament. This mind you that I am only referring to basketball. In terms of other sports, we will not be the general champions of the NCAA if we are only good in basketball alone. (see previous note in regards to how well San Beda plays in the field of academics in comparison to all other schools in the Philippines)
I am a very proud to be a Bedan and just as proud on how far our San Beda Red Lions played in the Fil-Oil.
Congratulations to placing 2nd place!!!
Congratulations to the Ateneo Blue Eagles and to the San Beda Red Cubs!!!
Now, let's move on to NCAA Season 87
