BEST PLAYER
Yvan Ludovice
18 points, five rebounds, four assists

This young gun from San Beda High School showed that he can be a reliable scorer as he stood in the forefront of the Red Lions’ head-turning 81-71 upset over a hapless Arellano University Chiefs. Now under the watchful eyes of head coach Ronnie Magsanoc, Ludovice, who went to NU in college but transferred back to his alma mater scored 18 points on an impressive five-of-seven shooting from the field in the Red Lions’ conquest of Arellano.

TEAM OF THE WEEK

San Beda Red Lions

The San Beda Red Lions would not be the defending back-to-back champions for nothing, after all. Down to a six-man team after the core of its roster served a one-game suspension for their involvement in a fracas last year, the wards of newly-installed head coach Ronnie Magsanoc upended an erratic Arellano University Chiefs, 81-71 to start their title-retention bid on a high note.

BEST GAME OF THE WEEK

San Beda-Arellano

Never in recent memory that this writer has seen a game like the San Beda-Arellano match. The Red Lions were totally mismatched yet Magsanoc has a lot of tricks in his sleeves as his so-called “Super Six” pulled the rug from under Arellano.

WORST GAME OF THE WEEK

San Beda-Arellano

The silence inside the Arellano dugout was deafening just some good 48 minutes after playing their first game of the season--- the Chiefs have just dropped an unbelievable setback at the hands of the defending back-to-back NCAA titlist, the San Beda Red Lions.

The Chiefs did not exploit the obvious advantage they had and eventually bowed to San Beda.
