SBCA Juniors And Midgets Team Remain Unbeaten In WNCAA

Host De La Salle Salle Zobel, Poveda, San Beda College Alabang and Rizal Technological University kept their records clean in the 43rd WNCAA tournament played in separate venues.

Centro Escolar University, Miriam College, Emilio Aguinaldo College, St. Scholastica’s College and Assumption College likewise stayed clean in their respective divisions.

EAC bested University of Asia and the Pacific, 67-61, to climb to 3-0 in Senior A while RTU overwhelmed St. Scholastica, 72-26, to stay close at 2-0. CEU paces Senior B, also at 3-0, after slamming Assumption, 77-21, on Aug. 26, Sunday, at the RTU gym in Mandaluyong.

DLSZ downed Chiang Kai Shek Colege, 58-55, and Miriam thumped Poveda, 43-20, to both tote 3-0 slates in the junior division. DLSZ likewise hacked out a 44-7 victory over St. Stephen’s High School to lead the midget level at 3-0, on Aug. 25, Saturday.

In senior volleyball played at the St. Scholastica Manila gym on Aug. 26, Sunday, CEU and Miriam notched their third victories in as many starts. CEU conquered La Consolacion College Manila, 25-17, 25-10, 25-18, and Miriam outlasted San Beda, 21-25, 25-16, 23-25, 25-19, 15-9 in the tournament being supported by Goody, Mikasa, Molten, MJC Photography, network partner AKTV and radio partner Monster Radio RX 93.1.

DLSZ stopped CKSC, 25-10, 25-20, 25-14; St. Scholastica shook off La Salle College Antipolo, 26-24, 25-18, 25-14; and San Beda survived Angelicum College, 20-25, 25-22, 23-25, 27-25, 17-15, to all post 3-0 records in the junior division.

San Beda also holds sway in the midget division, notching a third straight triumph as it downed defending champion Miriam, 25-22,25-20. Poveda and DLSZ occupy second spot at 2-0.
