Van Abatayo sizzled with 27 points for the Red Lions, who romped off to their third consecutive win with an 82-77 stopping of the Angeles University Foundation Great Danes in this cagefest, which is supported by Gerry’s Grill.
CJ Isit and Julian Sergeant topscored for 19 points apiece as the Mapua Cardinals blasted the Far Eastern University Tamaraws, 64-52, and improved their record behind the Bulldogs and the Red Lions in Group A with their 2-1 win-loss card.
In the junior matches, Jasper Longalong eked out 23 points for the Richard del Rosario-coached FEU-Fern Junior Tamaraws as they clobbered AUF, 76-61, and St. Joseph Bulacan won over San Sebastian, 65-62.
Porter dished out 11 points for the Bulldogs in the first period, and they quickly moved away 25-11 after the 10 minutes.
Abatayo, who was supported by Jeric Estrada and Michol Sorela with 13 each, had eight points in the last period in leading the Red Lions past AUF.
