Alabang Red Lioness Enters WNCAA Q'Finals

University of Asia and the Pacific and Miriam College caught the last trips to the 43rd WNCAA senior basketball quarterfinals with convincing wins at RTU gym over the weekend (Sept 22-23).

UA&P sent Assumption College to an early vacation after a 39-28 victory while Miriam College ousted La Consolacion College Mendiola, 58-35, on Sunday (Sept 23).  UA&P will battle defending champion Centro Escolar University in Sunday’s (Sept.30) quarterfinals while Miriam faces Rizal Technological University.

The Emilio Aguinaldo College-San Beda and Philippine Women’s University-St. Scholastica’s College matches will determine the other two semifinalists.

St. Jude Catholic School and San Beda College Alabang likewise gained final eight seats in the junior division in the tournament being supported by Goody, Mikasa, Molten, MJC Photography, network partner AKTV and radio partner Monster Radio RX 93.1.

St. Jude downed St. Paul College Pasig, 54-28, and will battle defending champion and host De La Salle Zobel in the quarterfinals.  San Beda ousted Poveda, 52-33, to arrange a duel with Miriam.

In midgets volleyball at the St. Scholastica’s College Manila gym, San Beda bested St. Scholastica, 25-12, 25-20, to sweep the six-game elimination round and gain a semis match up with No. 4 Poveda.  DLSZ gained the No. 2 spot and a clash with third-ranked defending champion Miriam.

San Beda beat St. Scholastica anew, 25-20, 25-21, 25-20, in the junior level to also stay unscathed in Group A at 5-0.

Over at the EAC gym in Manila, defending senior futsal champion RTU blanked UA&P, 2-0, to raise its win-loss-draw card to 4-1-0 while EAC also notched its fourth win with a similar 2-0 blanking of Assumption.
