Adeogun's Injury Makes Red Lions Underdogs Vs NU
Ola Adeogun is still recovering from an ankle sprain ahead of San Beda’s Filoil Flying V Hanes Premier Cup match against defending champion National University on Saturday at The Arena.
Red Lions rookie coach Boyet Fernandez said Adeogun won't be a hundred percent healthy when the reigning three-time NCAA men’s title holders clash with the Bulldogs in the tournament opener set at 2 p.m.
“Ola had a sprain and he is still recovering,” said Fernandez.
The Nigerian suffered the injury when he played for Fruitas in the PBA D-League back when San Beda still had a school tie-up with the Shakers in the Aspirants Cup.
From all indication, the ankle is still affecting Adeogun’s movements.
Already saddled with injuries are Red Lions twins Anthony and David Semerad, who have been hit by Achilles and back injuries, respectively, and are still not in game shape.
“We have a little bit of an injury problem,” said Fernandez.
The San Beda coach said the spate of injuries bugging his team will make the Bulldogs an even tougher opponent with Bobby Ray Parks leading the squad.
“We are short of big men and it will be a tough match-up since we are facing the defending champions,” said Fernandez, who took over the coaching reins of the Lions from Ronnie Magsanoc.
