Azkals-Reinforced Red Booters Starts NCAA Title Defense
San Beda starts its title defense in the NCAA men’s football competition that kicks off on January 20 at the Ascom field in Taguig.
Bannered by 23-under Azkals standouts Neil Dorimon and David Fornea, the Red Booters are gunning for a fourth straight and 21st championship overall.
The Mendiola-based squad coached by Aris Caslib begin their campaign against Lyceum on opening day where perennial contender College of St. Benilde also sees action versus University of Perpetual Help.
Arellano, last season’s runner up led by Best Scorer Alvin Obrero, takes the field a day after the juniors’ division opens on January 22, as it takes on Mapua.
Only seven of the 10 member schools are participating in the tournament, hosted by Mapua, with Letran, Jose Rizal University, and San Sebastian unable to field respective squads.
The competition has a single-round format with the top four teams advancing to the next round, where they compete in another one-rounder.
The Finals of both divisions are on February 23.
