Red Booters, LPU Pirates Opens NCAA Football
San Beda opens its bid for a fourth straight NCAA seniors football crown when it collides with Lyceum on Monday at the ASCOM pitch in Taguig City.
Game time is at 8 a.m. after a short opening ceremony.
In other games, Emilio Aguinaldo College squares off with Mapua at 10 a.m., followed by the tiff between College of St. Benilde and University of Perpetual Help at 12 noon.
Last season’s runner-up Arellano drew an opening-day bye.
With 20 titles under its belt, San Beda seeks to tie with former member La Salle’s 21 championships for the winningest football squad in the league.
Niel Dorimon and Miguel Caindec will be the main men for the Red Booters, who defeated the Arellano Chiefs in the one-game face-off to win a third straight crown.
Season 88 MVP Nhiboy Pedimonte, midfielder Ali Baldo and Jon Aaron Carlos, however, won’t be around for San Beda as they have already completed their playing years.
