“You Will Always Be A Mentor And A father To Me” - Ola Adeogun
Ola Adeogun expresses his sentiments about Coach Frankie’s resignation.
I know that have been keeping silents this pass few days, but me keeping silent does not mean i did not know what happening or what is actually going on at hand,i decided to stay off facebook for a while but this silent is killing me, i can't hold it anymore, so i decided to write this little note for you. i can't imagine that after all the things that have been through for me, i will end up not playing for you this season, this as been a very sad feeling for me ever since u spoke to us the last time, even now that am writing this note am writing it in tears, i feel your pain Coach, you have done a lot for me and the team for the few years have been here.
Coach, even if our next coach is going to be phil, i want you to know that you will always be my coach, mentor and a father figure to me, am not saying this to disregard or disrespect our new coach, am just saying this to let you know how painful it will always be for me practicing in that gym without you on that sideline, all the community know how hard and well you have been teaching us to be the best in whatever we do, i came into this team with little basketball knowledge, you teach me well, you teach me to be strong by taking pains even when opponents try to hurt me u teach me not to fight back but to try to win the games, that wen you dont feel those pains anymore.
Coach even if you have left the job unfinished, i still know in myself that my basketball level have really improved this 2-3yrs have been with you, even if some people still think you hired me as a machinery to win for you but i will tell you now that i was as this good now as a player and also as a person just because of how you teach me, now i understand i learned that you do not know the worth of people around you not until they going away, i guess this a hard lesson for to learn.I remember the first time i came to talk to you after one of our game about all the things that have happen you said to me, "Just stay in focus in school and also the court, don't worry too much about me because if that should happen to you again i will do the same thing to defend you again". people might this things happen for a reason but i will say this wouldn't have happened if you didn't defend me, so you see i much i owe you. i know i cant even pay you back, not even an inch of what u have done, but it will always be in my memory, i will always remember all this things, i will always remember passing through you as a coach and this will everly be heard by my generation to come.
Actually coach it is not yet the time for me to start saying so many stuff about this things, i will do more of my talking on the basketball court as you always say, i just pray and hope that God will let me show to this people the reason you defended me, i will play the season for you coach, and don't worry too i promise you i am going to finish my study here.
Lastly i will say thank you so much Coach for the wonderful years you have done some wpnderful job, you have affected the life and family of many players, students and the community, by the way coach i don't care if people are laughing at this cos grammatical error, i don't really care as long as you understand and feel how i felt about this things.
God bless you Coach Frankie lim and keep you and your family strong through this painful period, AMEN.
